Animal Husbandry Department
This Department was started in 1892 as Civil Veterinary Department to provide various aids to the needy farmers, and then renamed as Animal Husbandry Department in 1948. Animal Husbandry Department is headed by Director of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services, Chennai- 6.
Ariyalur Region is headed by Regional Joint Director of Animal Husbandry [RJD (AH)] and under RJD (AH), 3 Administrative divisions each headed by an Assistant Director of Animal Husbandry [AD (AH)] with the head quarter at Ariyalur, Udayarpalayam and Perambalur as such in Revenue Division. Field Institutions consists of Veterinary Dispensary, Upgraded Veterinary Sub centre (now upgraded asVeterinary Dispensary) and Veterinary Sub centre under the control of AD (AH), manned by Veterinary Assistant Surgeon, JuniorVeterinary Assistant Surgeon (Now designated as Veterinary Assistant Surgeon) and Livestock Inspector respectively.
